Like God? or staff, walking stick
Makila has two primary paths of origin. It is often used as a modern rhythmic variant of Michaela, the feminine form of Michael, meaning 'who is like God?'. Additionally, in the Basque language, a 'makila' is a traditional handmade walking stick that represents authority and honor.
