Makeba is a name of Ethiopian and Semitic origin, traditionally associated with the Queen of Sheba, whose name in Ethiopian tradition was Makeda. It carries connotations of royal stature and historical significance within East African culture. The name gained international recognition through the South African singer and civil rights activist Miriam Makeba.
