Maizey is primarily a modern diminutive of Margaret, which comes from the Greek word for pearl. It is also frequently used as a playful, phonetic variation of Maisie or as a reference to the golden cereal crop maize. This spelling adds a contemporary, nature-inspired twist to a traditional Scottish nickname.
