Sickness or mild
Derived from the Hebrew name Machlon, it is traditionally interpreted to mean 'weakness' or 'sickly.' In the Old Testament, Mahlon was the first husband of Ruth and the son of Elimelech and Naomi. Despite its somber literal meaning, it has been used historically in the United States, particularly within Pennsylvania Dutch communities.
