Lake colony or flax field
Lynken is a modern creative spelling of Lincoln. It originates from the English city of Lincoln, which derives from the Brythonic word 'lindo' meaning lake or pool and the Latin 'colonia' meaning colony. Some interpretations also link it to Old English terms for a flax field.
