Lynette is a diminutive form of the Welsh name Eluned, meaning 'idol' or 'image'. It is also frequently associated with the French word 'linotte', meaning 'linnet' (a small songbird), or as a diminutive of the name Lynn, meaning 'lake'. The name gained literary fame through Arthurian legend as the sister of Lyonors.
