Lexey is a diminutive form of Alexandra or Alexis, ultimately derived from the Greek name Alexandros. It combines the ancient roots 'alexein', meaning to defend, and 'aner', meaning man. While traditionally a nickname, it has emerged as a standalone modern choice.
