Stork; night; or short form of various Japanese names
Koko has multiple distinct origins. In Japanese, it is often a diminutive or a combination of kanji such as 'ko' (child) and 'ko' (rainbow or incense). In several Native American traditions, particularly Blackfoot, it is associated with the word for night or the stork.
