Kealia is a Hawaiian name derived from the words 'ke' (the) and 'alia' (salt pond or salt bed). It traditionally refers to the flat areas where salt was harvested from evaporated seawater. The name is deeply rooted in the geography and natural resources of the Hawaiian Islands.
