Land of the desiccated water
Derived from the Sanskrit words 'ka' (water) and 'shimeera' (to desiccate), referring to the ancient belief that the valley was originally a lake. It is the name of a mountainous region in the northern part of the Indian subcontinent. In a Western context, it is often associated with the luxurious wool or the iconic Led Zeppelin song.
