Very dear; grace
A modern elaboration of the name Carissa, which is derived from the Greek word 'charis' meaning grace. It is also frequently associated with the Latin 'carissima', the superlative form of 'dear'. The name gained popularity in the late 20th century as a more melodic alternative to Karen or Carrie.
