Jodeci is a modern American coinage created as a portmanteau for the R&B group of the same name. It combines syllables from the members' names: 'Jo' from JoJo, 'de' from the DeGrate brothers (DeVante Swing and Dalvin), and 'ci' from the end of JoJo's surname, Hailey. While originally a group name, it transitioned into use as a given name in the 1990s.
