A member of the Gauts tribe
Derived from the Germanic name Gautselin, which refers to the Gauts (a North Germanic tribe). It later became associated with the Old French name Josse and was introduced to England by the Normans. While historically used for both genders, it is now primarily a feminine choice in the United States.
