Bright pledge
Jilberto is a rare variant of Gilberto, the Spanish, Portuguese, and Italian form of the Germanic name Gilbert. It is derived from the elements 'gisil', meaning pledge or hostage, and 'beraht', meaning bright. While the 'G' spelling is standard, the 'J' variant occasionally appears in Spanish-speaking communities as a phonetic variation.
