Jiana is a modern variant of Gianna, which is the Italian diminutive of Giovanna. It ultimately derives from the Hebrew name Yochanan, meaning 'Yahweh is gracious.' While it shares roots with Jane and Joan, Jiana has emerged as a distinct phonetic spelling in the United States.
