Sacred name
Derived from the Greek name Hieronymos, it combines the elements 'hieros' (sacred) and 'onyma' (name). It was famously borne by Saint Jerome, the 4th-century scholar who translated the Bible into Latin. While it was a mid-century staple in the US, it has recently become a rare, vintage choice.
