Jeremia is a variant of the Hebrew name Jeremiah. It stems from the name Yirmiyahu, which combines the elements 'rum' (to exalt) and 'Yah' (the Hebrew God). While less common in English-speaking countries than the 'h' ending version, it is a recognized form in several European languages.
