Jenine is a variant of Jeannine, which is a French diminutive of Jeanne. It ultimately derives from the Hebrew name Yochanan, meaning 'God is gracious'. While it peaked in popularity in the mid-20th century, it remains a rare and softer alternative to Jane or Jennifer.
