Jeni is a diminutive form of Jennifer, which itself is the Cornish form of the Welsh name Gwenhwyfar. It ultimately shares roots with the Hebrew name Yohanan, meaning 'God is gracious'. While often used as a nickname, it has a history of independent use as a shorter, modern alternative.
