Supplanter or dove
Jem originated as a medieval diminutive of James, which comes from the Hebrew name Jacob. It is also used as a short form of Jeremy or Jemma. In literature, it is famously associated with the character Jeremy 'Jem' Finch from To Kill a Mockingbird.
