Peace of God or travelers peace
A variant of Jeffrey, derived from Germanic elements meaning 'peace' combined with either 'God', 'territory', or 'traveler'. While the 'Jeffrey' spelling became the standard, this version offers a leaner, more phonetic look. It has largely been eclipsed by the more common Jeffrey and Geoffrey spellings in recent decades.
