Enlarged or beautiful
Derived from the Hebrew name Yephet, it is traditionally interpreted to mean 'may he expand' or 'enlarged,' though some scholars suggest a connection to the root for 'beautiful.' In the Old Testament, Japheth is one of the three sons of Noah and is considered the ancestor of the Indo-European peoples.
