Jana is a feminine form of Jan, which is a Slavic and Germanic variation of John. It shares the same etymological root as Jane and Joan, ultimately tracing back to the Hebrew name Yochanan. While popular in Central Europe, it remains a rare and distinctive choice in the United States.
