Rainbow; messenger of the gods
Iridiana is an elaborated form of the Greek name Iris, the goddess of the rainbow who served as a messenger between heaven and earth. The name combines the classical root with the popular Latinate suffix '-iana', giving it a more rhythmic and romantic feel. It is particularly favored in Spanish-speaking communities as a more ornate alternative to Iris.
