Violet flower
Derived from the Greek word for the violet flower, Ione has deep roots in Greek mythology as the name of one of the Nereids, or sea nymphs. It was popularized in the 19th century following the publication of Edward Bulwer-Lytton's novel 'The Last Days of Pompeii'.
