From Ilium or bright
Illiana is often considered a feminine elaboration of the Greek name Iliana, referring to the ancient city of Ilium (Troy). It is also frequently associated with the Hebrew name Eliyanah, meaning 'my God has answered.' In modern usage, it is prized for its melodic, multi-syllabic sound and its rarity compared to Eliana.
