Free or from Illyria
The name is derived from the Albanian word 'i lirë', which translates to 'free'. It is also historically linked to the Illyrians, an ancient group of tribes who inhabited the western Balkan Peninsula. It remains a popular and patriotic choice in Albania and Kosovo.
