Leader, ruler, or sovereign
Derived from the Turkic elements 'il' meaning 'country' or 'people' and 'han' meaning 'ruler' or 'leader'. Historically, it was a title used by the Ilkhanate rulers in the Mongol Empire. In modern usage, it is a respected name across Turkey and the Balkans.
