In Japanese, the meaning of Hayato depends on the kanji used. The most common combination refers to a 'falcon person' (hayabusa-hito), historically associated with an ancient ethnic group from Kyushu known for their agility and bravery. Alternatively, it can be written to mean 'sun person'.
