Halimatou is a West African variant of the Arabic name Halima. It is most commonly found in French-speaking West African countries such as Guinea, Senegal, and Mali. The name is deeply respected in Islamic tradition as it was the name of the Prophet Muhammad's foster mother, Halimah bint Abi Dhuayb.
