In Armenian mythology, Haik is the legendary forefather and hero of the Armenian people. He is traditionally depicted as a giant and a skilled archer who defeated the Babylonian king Bel to secure freedom for his people. The name is deeply tied to Armenian national identity, as the endonym for Armenia, Hayastan, is derived from his name.
