Heather-covered hill
Derived from Old English elements 'hæth' (heather) and 'dun' (hill). It originally served as a surname for families living near such a landscape, most notably associated with Haddon Hall in Derbyshire, England. In modern times, it is often chosen by parents to honor the influential 19th-century Baptist preacher Charles Haddon Spurgeon.
