One who sings praises of the Guru
Derived from the Sanskrit elements 'Guru', meaning teacher or spiritual guide, and 'Kirat', meaning praise or glory. In the Sikh tradition, it represents a person who lives their life singing the hymns and glories of the Divine. It is a common name within the Punjabi community and is used for both boys and girls.
