Strong lord or mythical beast
A modern spelling variant of the Welsh name Griffin, which is derived from Gruffudd. It historically refers to a 'strong lord' or 'prince,' though it is now inextricably linked to the griffin, a legendary creature with the body of a lion and the head of an eagle.
