Gravelly homestead
Derived from the Old English 'grand' (gravel) and 'ham' (homestead), it originally referred to the town of Grantham in Lincolnshire. It was brought to Scotland in the 12th century by the Anglo-Norman baron William de Graham, establishing it as a prominent Scottish surname before its use as a given name.
