Spear brave
A variant of the Germanic name Gerard, it is composed of the elements 'ger' meaning spear and 'hard' meaning brave or hardy. While less common than the standard spelling, it retains the same strong, ancient roots. It was introduced to England by the Normans and has been used sporadically in the English-speaking world for centuries.
