White hawk or little falcon
Gavino is the Italian form of the Late Latin name Gabinus, originally denoting someone from Gabii, an ancient city in Latium. In Sardinia, it is deeply associated with Saint Gavinus, a 4th-century martyr and the island's patron saint. The name is often linked etymologically to the same roots as Gawain, meaning white hawk.
