From Gaeta
Gaetan is the French form of the Latin name Caietanus, which originally served as a locational surname for someone from the ancient Italian city of Gaeta. The city's name is thought to be derived from the Greek word 'kaietas', meaning a cave or hollow. It is most famously associated with Saint Gaetano (Saint Cajetan), the 16th-century founder of the Theatines.
