Gaelan is a variant of Galen, which originates from the Greek name Galenos. It historically refers to a state of tranquility or the act of healing, famously associated with the ancient Roman physician Galen. In some contexts, it is also viewed as a modern Gaelic-inspired elaboration of the name Gael.
