Fair-haired or white fire
Finton is an anglicized variation of the Irish name Fintan. In Irish mythology, Fintan mac Bóchra was a legendary figure known as the 'Wise of the White' who survived the Great Flood by shapeshifting. It combines the elements 'fionn', meaning white or fair, and 'tan', often interpreted as fire.
