Derived from the Old French name Fauques, which originated as a Germanic nickname for a falconer or someone with falcon-like qualities. In English history, it is most famously associated with Guy Fawkes and the Gunpowder Plot of 1605. In modern pop culture, it gained new life as the name of a loyal phoenix.
