Whole or universal
Emmelyn is a variant of Emmeline, which stems from the Germanic element 'amal' meaning work or industrious, or 'ermen' meaning whole and universal. It gained popularity in medieval Europe before being revived in the 19th century. The 'lyn' suffix is a modern stylistic adaptation common in American naming traditions.
