Elanora is a rare elaboration of Eleanor, likely influenced by the Greek name Helen. It carries the same association with brightness and radiance, while the 'ora' suffix adds a melodic, rhythmic quality popular in the late 19th century. In Australia, it is also recognized as an Indigenous place name meaning 'home by the sea'.
