Diann is a variant of Diane, which is derived from the Roman goddess Diana. The name ultimately traces back to the Indo-European root meaning 'sky' or 'shine', signifying a celestial or divine nature. It was most popular in the mid-20th century as a simplified spelling of the more common Diane.
