Follower of Dionysos or valley
Denecia is a modern elaboration of Denise, which is the French feminine form of Dionysius. It ultimately derives from the Greek god Dionysos, the deity of wine and celebration. Alternatively, it may be influenced by the Old English word 'denu', meaning valley.
