Follower of Demeter or to tame
Demiana is a feminine form of Damian, which derives from the Greek name Damianos. It is traditionally associated with the Greek goddess Demeter, the deity of agriculture and the harvest, or the Greek verb 'damazo', meaning to tame or subdue. In Coptic Christian tradition, it is a highly revered name due to Saint Demiana.
