In Greek mythology, Dejanira (or Deianira) was the third wife of the hero Heracles. Her name is derived from the Greek elements 'daio', meaning to destroy, and 'aner', meaning man or husband. She is most famous for unwittingly causing Heracles' death with the Shirt of Nessus.
