Sorrowful or broken-hearted
Derived from the Old Irish name Deirdre, which is often associated with the word 'der' meaning daughter, but more famously linked to the tragic heroine of Irish legend. In Celtic mythology, Deirdre was a beautiful woman whose story was marked by prophecy and tragedy, leading to the meaning of sorrow.
