Husband-slayer or of the people
The name is most commonly associated with the Greek figure Deianira, the wife of Heracles, whose name literally translates to husband-slayer. In modern Spanish-speaking contexts, it is often viewed as a more melodic, elaborate version of names like Diana or Dayana. It gained significant visibility in the 1990s following the crowning of Dayanara Torres as Miss Universe.
