Daryana is a modern elaboration of the Persian name Daria, which is the feminine form of Darius. It is derived from the Old Persian name Darayavahush, composed of elements meaning 'to possess' and 'good'. In some Slavic contexts, it is also associated with the name Dariana or Darina, meaning 'gift'.
